What is Rava?

Rava, also known as semolina, it is a coarse flour made from durum wheat, a type of hard wheat. It is commonly used in South Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine to make dishes like upma, sheera, halwa, and dosa.and many kind of recipe Semolina has a granulated texture and a slightly white in color, and it is often used to make pasta, pastries, and baked goods. Rava Dosa batter Ingredients:

  • Rice flour  1 cup
  • Upma rava  1/2 cup
  • Refined flour  1/4 cup
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Black peppercorns 7-8 nos. (crushed)
  • Ginger  1 tsp (chopped)
  • Green chillies  2-3 nos. (chopped)
  • Curry leaves  1 tsp (chopped)
  • Salt  to taste Water  4 cups
  • Onions as required (chopped)
  • Ghee / oil  as required

1. First of all we will make batter for rava dosa

Make Batter:- To make the better in a large bowl we will add one cup rice flour, and I am using half cup semolina used for upma, and along with it 1/4th Cup refined flour, one table spoon cumin seeds, 5 crushed whole peppercorns, along with I am adding 1 tablespoon job Ginger 2, 3 chopped green chillies, and one table spoon chopped curry leaves and finally salt according to teste,

Now we will mix everything to combine once you have mixed everything nicely now at water to this so today I am using total four cups of water and we will add half of the water first and mix well and I am adding half the quantity to water first to avoid lumps if you add all the waters at once then sometimes lumps may form once everything is combined well then add the final two cups of water to it as well mix well after adding once your batter it ready you can notice that the batter is very watery in consistency,

4. This is how this dosa is made, now you have to rest it for half an hour so friends we have made the batter for the rava dosa, now as you saw that the better was very runny this is how the batter for rava dosa is made, this is the reason why you get that lacy pattern and dosa as there is a lot of moisture in the batter, so whenever in hits the lot skillet the lace is formed,

5. And now you have to use for cups of water so try and use the same quantity of water if you make a similar better than you are dosa will be perfect, you have to use the semolina used to make upma that gives absolutely perfect result.

9. Once you are pan is nicely hot then spread chopped onion on the top of the pan, so spread the job onion now whenever you want to make a dosa you will stir the batter well keep this mind as the semolina settled at bottom, so stir properly and fill some better into a ladle,

And now slowly you have to pour it on the tawa so friend our pan is very hot that because of that our batter is instantly sizzling, and due to that we are getting this texture this laciness is very important if you don’t get that then the texture Crispness crunchiness will be missing in rava dosa,

11. And the only reason for that is the nicely heated up pan, now you have to let the rava dosa set once you are rava dosa sets a little bit then you can add ghee or oil on top pour adequate amount of ghee or oil so that your rava dosa becomes nicely crispy,

12. you don’t worry about the big holes in the dosa this is how the actual texture for rava dosa should be, now you have to cook this rava dosa of medium low flame patiently, rava dosa takes slightly longer than normal dosa to cook, so cook it patiently it may take slightly longer you will see that the edges and the spots in between will start Browning, this Browning is essential you may think that it’s going to burn but it’s actually getting crisper when you turn it you will see that it will have a luxurious brown caramelisation,
