What’s up guys you are Welcome to my blog so Today I’m making Tandoori Chicken Strips. We usually go out to eat Chicken Strips. and we love it too. Even children love Chicken Popcorn and Chicken Strips. So, I’m giving the recipe for the same Chicken Strips. but with Tandoori flavour. They taste really delicious.
And in this recipe I will tell you how to crumb these chicken strips, to get crispy crumbs like you find outside. And the chicken inside will be soft and tender and juicy in our chicken strips. which taste really good with Tandoori flavour.
And I will also give recipe for my favourite Garlic Dip. which tastes really good with these Tandoori strips.
How To Make Tandoori Chicken Strips
How to prep the chicken
So, first of all let’s see how to prep the chicken.
Here, I’ve taken 1/2 kg cleaned chicken breast. Now We have to cut these chicken breast into strips. You will see there are fibres running through the chicken breast. You have to cut the strips against/in opposite direction of these fibres. By doing so, the chicken will not be chewy.
And Cut long strips, so I’m cutting the chicken. Cut the chicken strips length-wise, just as how I’m cutting it strips. Cut all the chicken strips like this from entire chicken. Once you have cut all the chicken strips then transfer it to a bowl.
First Marination of Chicken
Now, to this add salt to taste, 1/2 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder, juice of half a lemon, & add 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste. Now, mix everything together. This is basically the first marination for your chicken strips.
Once you have mixed everything together, that our first marination is completed.
Second Marination
Now, for our second marination, in a bowl we will take 1 tbsp mustard oil, and take 1 tbsp Kashmiri red chilli powder & mix it properly to get a good colour of the marinade. Now, to this we will add 1/2 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp cumin powder, 1/2 tsp black salt, 1/4th tsp chaat masala, 1/4th tsp garam masala, a pinch of cardamom powder, a pinch of roasted dried fenugreek leaves powder, 2 tsp ginger garlic paste, and we will add 2 tbsp of curd. add salt to taste,
Mix everything well, whisk everything well to prepare a marinade. There should be no lumps of curd or spices. Once the marinade is ready, then add the chicken which was marinated earlier. And coat the chicken nicely with this marinade. The flavour of this Tandoori marinade is very delicious.
Once you have nicely mixed the chicken, then make some place in the centre. Now we have to smoke the chicken. Place a bowl in the centre and add a burning coal to it. Now Add some ghee on top & cover it. The smoke will give it a smoky tandoori flavour. And its very crucial for this recipe. It gives a very good flavour.
After 3-4 minutes, remove the lid, and remove the coal carefully as well. And our chicken is marinated and ready. Once you have marinated the chicken, now you have to crumb it.
So Today, we are not going to use bread crumbs, we are going to crumb the chicken differently. The method is that a lot of refined flour is taken, and chicken is coated in that, and then it is dipped in cold water, yes in cold water. And then it is again removed and coated in refined flour nicely again. to form those tiny crumbs due to which the chicken gets those crispy crumbs on it.
And the chicken strips comes out just like how it is when you eat out.
Crumbling process
Let’s see how to do the crumbing process, it’s a very simple procedure.
Here, I’ve taken 250 grams refined flour. The flour should be airy now Add salt to it & season the flour a little bit. Here, in another bowl, take ice cold water. This is very important. So Take a big bowl so that a sieve can fit into that easily.
So prepare the set up Now to crumb the chicken, take 2-3 chicken strips into the flour, Coat this chicken nicely with dry flour. Lightly mix it to coat the chicken nicely with flour. Once you have coated the chicken then lightly shake it to remove excess flour. After removing the excess flour, take the chicken strips into a sieve. And then dip them in ice cold water.
Just dip it. You don’t have to shake the chicken at all. and let it be for 5 seconds by counting upto 5. Once 5 seconds are done, remove the chicken strips from water. Remove the chicken & immediately put it in the flour. After adding it to the flour, add some more flour on top, and Nicely massage the chicken with your hands.
I’m rotating it & tossing it a little bit. This is how you have to coat the chicken. By doing this process the chicken crumbs will form, which will make our chicken strips crispy. Once you have done this for about 1 minute, Again remove the chicken & shake it to remove the excess flour. After removing excess flour, you wiil see how it has formed nice & perfect crumbs.
When we fry it, it will result in crispy beautiful chicken strips. Similarly crumb the chicken strips. After crumbing place them on a plate. You will see how easy it is to crumb the chicken. It is a very easy method. When you follow like this, the crumbs will form on chicken, and our chicken strips will turn out perfectly.
Once you have crumbed this chicken and don’t want to make it immediately, then place it in a box, place butter paper on top and place another layer on top. and then place it in the freezer. and you can fry it after 2-3 days too. If you crumb it just before frying then you will get better results.
So, I’ve told this process to you.
How To Fry
Now, let’s learn how to fry it.
So, hare I have heated the oil here in a kadai at about 170 degree Celsius. Your oil should be nicely hot. As it is chicken breast, it will cook fast. Carefully add the chicken to oil, add the chicken to oil, lightly swirl it in oil & then drop it in oil.
Fry the chicken on high or medium high flame until it is golden brown & crisp. You will see that our chicken has become golden brown in colour & crisp. At this stage, remove it from the oil and add it to the sieve to let the excess oil drip off.
You will see that your Tandoori Chicken Strips are ready. You will see how perfect our crumb has formed and it has got such a perfect colour and our Tandoori Chicken Strips are perfect.
How to make Garlic Dip
Now quickly let’s learn how to make Garlic Dip within a minute. Now Take thick curd in a bowl, 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1/2 tsp vinegar or you can add lemon juice too. 1 tsp powdered sugar, a pinch of black pepper powder, salt to taste, some freshly chopped coriander leaves,
Here, I’m grating garlic cloves & adding them. Take 3-4 cloves of garlic & grate them & add them to this dip. Now whisk everything together nicely. and you will see that our quick garlic dip is ready.
Let’s plate our Tandoori Chicken Strips
This is how you can make Perfect Chicken Strips. If you don’t want to make Tandoori Chicken Strips, but plain ones, let me just quickly tell you how to do that.
Skip the second marination process. Do the first marination and then directly coat it. and add Peri-Peri masala on top. The Peri Peri masala will give a tangy flavour. When you go out usually that is the seasoning that is added on top.
